For me, the challenge of getting the perfect photo is what makes photography fun. Getting out in nature and away from the hubbub of life is an added bonus. Ever since I started taking pictures, I am more observant of life and the world around me, which helps me to achieve my photographic goals. Being able to capture images for other people to enjoy brings me happiness and fulfilment.

Laura Holm
Photographer and Creative Designer
Laura has spent much of her life immersed in nature in a variety of ways. Having grown up on a small holding, and ridden horses professionally, before becoming a veterinarian, she has a wealth of experience working closely with a wide range of animals, which is a useful attribute for wildlife photography! Laura has also travelled extensively, and these experiences mean that she is comfortable working in remote and challenging locations. Having volunteered with a sea turtle research expedition for a marine charity (The Olive Ridley Project), Laura has also gained some valuable insights into the challenges faced by conservation organisations, and how photography can help to highlight important environmental and conservation issues.
With over 30 years of photographic experience, Laura is becoming increasingly recognised for her thoughtful and journalistic approach to photography. Laura's work provides contrast and balance to Shawn's images and together they give LSHolm Photography a unique and inimitable style.
Shawn Holm
Photographer and Technical Advisor
Shawn has been a keen photographer since 1996. Having moved to the UK from America to attend vet school in Edinburgh, he soon noticed the incredible amount of natural beauty surrounding him. Wanting to share his experiences with his family and friends back in America, he picked up a camera and started shooting. He quickly became aware that he had a natural eye for photography.
It was in vet school where he met Laura, and they soon realised that they shared many interests, including travelling and photography. Their particular favourite destination became the Maldives, and this fuelled Shawn's interest in underwater photography. This became a useful skill when volunteering with The Olive Ridley Project, an experience which further ignited Shawn's passion for conservation and eco-tourism. Shawn strives to use his photography skills to raise awareness of the natural world and the challenges this environment faces.
